African-American woman elected bishop in W.Tenn.

The Rev. Phoebe A. Roaf, rector of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Richmond, Va., was elected onthe first ballot as the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of West Tennessee Saturday, Nov. 17 at St. George's Episcopal Church. Mother Phoebe is the first woman and the first African-American to be elected bishop in West Tennessee. She is the first woman to be elected a diocesan bishop in Province IV and only the fourth African-American woman to be elected a diocesan bishop in the Episcopal Church. A full story is HERE

Treasurer's Duties Extended

Province IV's new President and former Treasurer, Kathryn W. McCormick, will continue to handle the Province IV Treasurer's duties until the end of the year. General Convention honors 

two Province IV Deputies

Two long-time Deputies from Province IV were honored at General Convention for their “distinguished service to the House of Deputies and to the Episcopal Church.” The Rev. Gay Jennings, president of the House of Deputies, awarded the House of Deputies Medal to Deputy Lonnie Hamilton from The Episcopal Church in South Carolina, a six-time deputy, for his work in his parish and the Episcopal Church in South Carolina, and to Deputy Richard Miller from Southeast Florida, a 12-time deputy and two-time sergeant-at-arms, who has served on multiple committees at General Convention and in his home diocese. Miller is also a past president of Province IV. (Miller and Jennings are pictured at left, Hamilton at right.)

Anita George honored


The Province IV Synod honored long-time General Convention deputy Anita George during its 2018 Synod June 8 at Kanuga.  The Synod unanimously passed the attached Courtesy Resolution, available HERE.
